Donnie and I were married on March 6, 1970. We met on a cold winter day. I was walking my dog and Donnie was on a motorcycle with his cousin Billy. Billy and I knew each other, he stopped to say Hello and introduced Donnie and I. Donnie asked me if I would like to see his house and as we walked down the drive he asked permission to hold my hand. Well, he had me right then and there. |
We had a beautiful candlelight wedding in my Fathers church. He performed the ceremony, with my Uncle Vincent, who was a chaplain in the Army, performing some parts. I was so very proud to walk down the isle on my Fathers arm. It was a magical evening. |
My gown was hand made by a small speacialty shop in our town. It had satin buttons all the way down the back and up the sleeves. Grandma Smith made all of the flowers for the church and the entire wedding party herself and was there to help me dress. I felt like a princess. |
